Testing
In April, Gov. Newsom established the California COVID-19 Testing Task Force to quickly and significantly increase the state’s testing capacity. CHA President & CEO Carmela Coyle was an instrumental member of the original task force, contributing to its work on creating new testing locations, expanding laboratory capability, building a supply pipeline, and expanding from 2,000 tests per day to more than 100,000 per day.
We continue to participate on the task force, representing hospitals’ perspectives and communicating vital information from the highest levels of state government directly back to hospitals. Some examples of ongoing work include:
-
Request for the state to improve effectiveness of testing policy
-
PerkinElmer lab opportunity that the Testing Task Force will implement
